Key Steps Gymnastics Competition

I’ve never known such anticipation about a competition! The children (especially those in year 5/6) were so excited about this event. I think I was asked daily about it from November to January.

Year 1/2 were fantastic. It’s always nerve-racking when you try something new but these 4 girls kept their cool and demonstrated some beautiful gymnastics to the judges. Unfortunately a medal wasn’t to be this year but they were certainly very keen to try again next year!

Year 3/4 had a long wait, having to watch the year 1/2 competition first. However, once it was their time to show their gymnastics, they didn’t hold back.  there were some beautiful demonstrations, controlled, disciplined and well rehearsed. Emily S won a silver medal for her individual display (over 2 hours of gymnastics a week), and Summer gained gold in the Town Schools competition for her individual display. Overall the team came second winning silver medals. All the children were thrilled and enjoyed walking back to school with their medals proudly displayed.

After an agonising wait of 2 months (:-)), year 5/6 girls had their opportunity to demonstrate their well practiced routines. they did not let us down. They dealt with the whole competition with such maturity, grace and dignity. Routines were clean, controlled and ha clearly been thought about. Evie-Gene was awarded silver medal for her individual position in the Town Schools and Evie S was awarded gold. We knew that this must mean something special… the girls had one it. They won gold medals, a trophy and the opportunity to represent the Town Schools in the Key Steps (Year 5/6) Finals.

Thank you to all the parents who came and supported the children and to all the staff who had worked with the children to practise their routines.
