Important messages from the NSPCC

Applegarth children were fortunate to have special assemblies today with Tom and Louisa from the charity NSPCC.

The children met Buddy again, the speech bubble mascot, who encourages children to speak out and contact the charity if they feel they need to. Bricks were placed in a bag when examples of worries were taken from the audience and Louisa explained how these can weigh us down. Children listened thoughtfully when a short video explained about neglect and abuse and asked questions that showed they had understood the importance of these issues.

Cyber bullying was discussed and the message that abuse is never ok.

Louisa took ideas from the children how to lighten the load of ‘worry bricks’. The telephone number 08001111 was given a fun way of remembering too.

A huge thank you to the NSPCC team for visiting Applegarth and sharing these important messages.

  1. Some very important messages to take away. The children were shown a special way of remembering the NSPCC telephone number. See if you can tell your parents and carers at home.
