Aysgarth Falls Field Study

The children in Nick Park and Potter class had a great time today at Aysgarth Falls.  In the morning they explored maps of the area, learnt about the formation of waterfalls, identified features of a river and explored in the visitors centre.  In the afternoon we went in Eller Beck and did some river dipping as well as investigating the speed and depth of the stream in different sections.  Despite getting a little wet, the day gave the children the opportunity to build on their learning in the classroom.  A huge thank you to the education team at the Yorkshire Dales National Park!  Earheart class and the rest of Potter are in for a treat on Thursday!

The second video includes a slideshow from our second visit featuring Earhart class and Y4 Potter class.

  1. Fabulous day at Aysgarth with the year 3/4 classes. Great fun and the children really impressed everyone with their knowledge of rivers. They particularly liked the measuring of the water flow in the stream and the getting wet of course.
    Brilliant video Mr Whiteley.

  2. A fabulous video after a busy day. Thanks to everyone. The children learnt so much and had a super time.
The video doesn’t show just how wet you can get in shallow water. To collect the creatures a few splashes were needed.
