At last we have completed our collage with an accumulation of mono printing and organic painting techniques with a giant piece of artwork. We started with a tea stained background and drew with lump graphite ground up in a pestle and mortar. This then progressed to exploring more mono print with our relief print tiles. We added more mono print straight onto the design using found organic objects such as leaves. This is how we made our jungle come to life. Some of us chose prints to cut out and collage onto the background. We added carmine (scarlet) flowers and other homemade inks. Others added saffron inks to make flowers and animals. Next more grasses, leaves and cut out rocks were added from textured mono printed papers. Finally we applied the dinosaurs and egg tempera graphite paint for leaves, tree branches and grasses. The finishing touch was ox gall ink details on the dinosaurs and more grasses for the dinosaurs to trample and eat. Many thanks to Wendi New for teaching us so many wonderful ways of making our own pigments and textured papers.

This is absolutely fabulous! Big thanks to Wendi.
Such talented children.
The yr1/2 children in penguins and puffins were such great artists. I absolutely enjoyed time with them over the weeks. They’ve exceeded expectations and investigated some great materials and techniques. Credit to Andy Broderick and Mark Hearld for local amazing artists that we used as inspiration. The large collage is brilliant and sums up the enjoyment we’ve had.
It certainly does Wendi. I couldn’t agree more and to top it off we received some great news today!
Brilliant news to have won an Art Prize! Wow! I knew those moths were special. Very well done! Such good news!
This artwork looks incredible! Thank you to Wendi for working with the children and teaching them about the many natural materials that an be used in drawing, painting and collage.
Thank you Mrs Parsons for your blog entries. This work is the result of an expert sharing her skills with the children and the children listening and applying those skills very carefully indeed.
We are very lucky to have such a talented lady on our staff.
