World Book Day has been an enormous success. Pupils have entered the bunting competition at home; engaged in reading bingo on Seesaw; dressed in amazing costumes, and have taken part in the WBD live event.
We also have our evening story time event from 5pm – 6pm tonight where pupils will return to school in their pyjamas to have a hot chocolate and listen to their teachers read their favourite stories.
Dear Applegarth Primary School,
I just wanted to say what a lovely day we’ve had with your children coming into the shop today. They were very well-behaved, but also engaged, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable! It was great sharing stories with them, and many of our regular older customers enjoyed the lively atmosphere they brought with them too – lots of smiles!
We’re very much looking forward to meeting the older ones over the next weeks!

Where do I begin? Yesterday was amazing! So much effort had been put into costumes which included fabulous props and brilliant attention to detail. Our children enjoyed an excellent range of activities as well as spending some quality time reading and sharing stories. A huge thank you to everyone involved in making the day such a memorable event. A very special thank you to Waterstones for hosting our Reception and KS1 children – they loved (and so did the staff!). 📚🌟
