Y3/4 visit the River Swale 💦

Year 3/4 consolidated their learning about rivers and their features in an exciting trip to observe the River Swale from Grinton to the Reeth meanders this week. We created some rock art and measured the speed of the river using a tape measure, a timer and dog biscuits! We then walked to where the River Swale used to be twenty years ago and compared the changes using what we could see in the landscape and aerial photographs. The children observed erosion, deposition and even spotted an old, dried up oxbow lake. A wonderful, enriching day, wholly funded by the Tees-Swale Trust. Thank you!
