Animal Visitors to Penguins

As part of our Science work this half term Penguins were very lucky to have the opportunity to learn about the structure of a variety of animals by observing, talking about and comparing a dog, guinea pigs, a rat and a hen brought into school by one of our Teaching Assistants Mrs Raymond.

Maisie the Therapy dog was a  big hit with the children as well as Jammy Dodger and Twix the guinea pigs!  The children have been describing  and comparing the structure of the animals using expanded noun phrases and commas in their sentences.

We would like to say a big thank you to Mrs Raymond, her son and their pets.

  1. It is great to see Masie back in school, she has worked hard this last year supporting individual children develop their resilience. It is wonderful to see children learning more about animals from first hand experiences.

  2. I can’t believe all these animals even fit in the car to be brought into school! What a great experience for the children to be able to learn with real animals rather than a picture on a piece of paper. Piratical science that will surely be remembered.
