Russia

Over the last two weeks the children have been learning a bit about Russia in preparation for the World Cup.  The children have been following the adventures of a tiny Russian doll called Nina who gets lost from her sisters.  Concept Squirrel has been teaching us new vocabulary to describe the different emotions Nina felt as she got lost from her sisters.  The story has inspired some children to write about a time when they lost their favourite doll.   The children have also been interested in Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake ballet and they’ve responded imaginatively to the villain called Von Rothbart.

  1. We have all enjoyed learning about Russia and the story of the “Littlest Matryoshka” has wonderful describing words in it. We had some wonderful ballerinas dancing to swan lake and we are looking forward to watching the World Cup!

  2. Ethan has been SO engrossed in this topic – he’s loved the story and came home last night telling me all about Swan Lake and Von Rothbart! Thanks all (where’s your tutu Mrs O’Toole?!)

  3. I was delighted to visit the classes to see the learning in action. From World Cup matches to impressive ballet!
The children are enjoying ‘visiting’ so many places. The London Bus has been VERY busy. Thanks everyone.
