Puffins and Penguins had so much fun playing our Escape the Aztecs game today. So many skills were involved from cutting out the gold bars, to reading the instructions, some speedy mental calculations to work out how many spaces they could move and then the all important turn taking and learning how to lose skills too. A super morning’s work!
Thank you to all those families who took the time to play the game before today’s lesson – the pre-learning really helped them to understand how to play the game.
After the playing, the children had the opportunity to review the game and to use the evidence in the text to answer questions about the game. This is part of our new approach to reading comprehension and we can really see it starting to pay off.
