The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch

As part of our ‘Seaside’ theme, we have been reading the story The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch. We have really enjoyed the story and completed lots of work around it.

In the story, Mrs Grinling is having trouble with some seagulls who are eating Mr Grinling’s lunch. She makes mustard sandwiches to baffle the seagulls.

The Year 1 children made some jam sandwiches.

They were scrumptious!

We then wrote down instructions on how to make these sandwiches.

  1. I joined the children making these sandwiches and they were taking such care. I’m sure they would enjoy sharing these skills at home.

  2. We love reading this story at home! There is usually lots of laughter trying to think of new things Mrs Grinling could try in the sandwiches.

It’s lovely to see the children taking such care over what they are doing. Freddie loves helping me at home now anytime I am making sandwiches! It’s lovely!
