Sutton Hoo Burial Site 09.10.2021

Pupils in Year 3/4 have been learning about historical artefacts found at Sutton Hoo which offer clues about Anglo Saxon life.  The children have enjoyed creating replica masks of one found at the site in Suffolk.  Historians believe it could have been the property of a Saxon king or even a king of multiple kingdoms (Bretwalda).  We have used this activity to write our own instructions in English lessons.

  1. I saw these masks in Mrs Cross’ classroom today and couldn’t believe how brilliant they looked! I’m sure the children had lots of fun making these and will enjoy writing their instructions.

  2. It was amazing to see the attention to detail which went into making these masks. When I visited Mr Whiteley’s class, the children were so knowledgeable and enthusiastic – I was very impressed! Well done, everyone!
