The Year 1 children in Honeybees walked over the field to Northallerton Auction Mart to watch the sale of store lambs. Mr Wilkin and Mrs Hobbs very kindly gave up their time to accompany us and answer any questions the children had about caring for and selling farm animals. The children made so many comments about the behaviour of the sheep and the variation between different breeds, they were very intrigued. It was also a great opportunity to incorporate counting in the visit, comparing sheep with/without horns, black faces/white faces, farmers with/without caps, as well recognising numbers on the sales board. The visit was so successful, we plan to take the other Year 1 pupils in the upandcoming weeks.

What a great experience for the children.
Ethan thoroughly enjoyed himself today on this visit and would like to take us back to visit again soon. He says he’ll show us where it is as he knows the way!
Mr Wilkin was amazed at just how many questions the children asked. Thanks for arranging the visits.
Looks really fun visiting the mart watching the store lambs sell is really fun. Wish I could be there hope they have fun on the rest of their visits.
