Puffins and Penguins Local Walk

The Puffins and Penguins had an interesting afternoon learning about their local environment.  Following a map of the area they stopped and looked at the natural and man-made features of their neighborhood.   They saw trains, railway bridges and a level crossing as well as the different styles of houses, old and new around our school.

  1. The children were all so well behaved and very observant about their surroundings I’m sure they learnt a lot about the local area

  2. Thank you for your lovely comment. Learning from beyond the classroom is such an important part of the ‘Applegarth Curriculum’. I had the pleasure of monitoring the first Y1 swimming sessions last week. Their enthusiasm for learning on the walk to and from the pool was fabulous. They questioned why numbers were missing on the High Street buildings and spotted ‘CAUTION’ signs on the route.
