Mr Garnham, brother of history lead Mrs Cross, and a WWII history expert visited Y5 children today to tell them about an exciting competition that would result in a memorial stone being constructed with their name on! Children were reminded about the Halifax crash that occurred near school in December 1943 and how local stonemasons were keen to provide a bigger and more meaningful memorial to the tragic event.
Children will be encouraged to design a suitable stone shape and an inscription. Stand by for the winning entries and the resulting stone, which will hopefully be constructed in the school grounds.
