Year 3 & 4 Passover assembly 12.3.2024

Today, the Year 3 and 4 students had a wonderful experience at an interactive assembly led by Sharon Tagger from the York Liberal Jewish community. Sharon warmly welcomed all the children and teachers, setting the stage for an exciting journey into the traditions of Passover.

Passover is a special festival celebrated by the Jewish community to remember the story of Exodus from Egypt. The children listened attentively as Sharon explained the significance of Passover, including the symbolic foods like matzah and the Seder plate.

One of the highlights of our assembly was helping Sharon with her prayer to welcome the Seder. We all joined in and learned the importance of coming together in prayer and gratitude during this special time of year.

In our assembly, we had the opportunity to see and touch traditional Jewish objects that are used during the special Passover meal called the Seder. We learned about items like the Seder plate, matzah, and the special wine cup called Kiddush. It was

so exciting to see these objects up close and learn about their significance in the Passover celebration. We also had a fun Hebrew lesson where we learned some basic Hebrew words related to Passover.

We are grateful to Sharon Tagger and the York Liberal Jewish community for sharing their traditions and inviting us to take part in this enlightening journey through Passover. We look forward to more enriching experiences like this in the future!
